If there's one thing I've learnt as a mum of three boys, it's that keeping everyone organised can feel like a full-time job!
Between school, homeschooling, appointments, activities and the everyday chaos of family life, I was tired of being the person who had to remember absolutely everything.
So I decided to create something simple — our Family Launch Pad.
Not another complicated routine system that we'd abandon after a week, but one central place where everyone could see what was happening, what needed doing and what came next.
To bring it all together, I used a large felt pinboard, added our routine and chore charts, and finished it off with some cute little bumblebee and leaf pins.
Because sometimes making life easier isn't about doing more. It's about getting a little bit of that mental load out of your head and onto a pinboard.
The best thing about our Launch Pad is that it's simple enough for the kids to use without me constantly reminding them what needs to be done.
Morning routines
My two younger boys have their own morning to-do lists that they tick off as they go. Instead of me repeating the same instructions over and over, they can see what needs doing and work through their tasks.
Evening routines
After dinner, everyone has their designated jobs before the TV goes back on.
We have different areas of the house — the kitchen, bathroom and living room — and each boy is responsible for one.
And just to be clear, we're not a no-TV-before-chores household! 😂 Sometimes the TV is on around 4 pm. We turn it off for dinner, get our jobs done, and then everyone can relax.
Weekly responsibilities
My boys who spend time at their dad's also have weekly tasks to complete before they head over.
It's not about having a spotless house or running a military operation. It's about teaching the boys responsibility, building independence and taking some of that mental load off me.
And honestly, having everything visible in one place makes such a difference.
A System That Grows With Our Family
One thing I'm learning is that our Launch Pad doesn't have to stay the same forever.
I'm already planning to add a 14-day countdown for my youngest, Hudson, so he can visually see how many sleeps are left until Daddy comes home from work.
Instead of asking me every day if Daddy is coming home, he'll be able to cross off each day and start understanding what two weeks actually looks like.
It's these little things that can make everyday family life feel a bit easier.
Is it working?
So far, yes! But like anything involving kids, it's not perfect.
There are still reminders, jobs that get forgotten and days when everything feels a little chaotic. The difference is that I'm not having to keep every single task and routine in my head.
The boys can see what's expected of them, tick things off as they go and gradually take more responsibility for themselves.
And for me, that's the whole point.
Finding our rhythm
I'm not trying to create a perfectly organised home or children who never need reminding.
I'm just trying to find simple ways to make everyday life run a little more smoothly, without feeling like I'm constantly repeating myself.
Our Launch Pad is still a work in progress, and I'm sure we'll change things as we figure out what works and what doesn't.
But if there's one thing I've learned, it's that sometimes the simplest systems make the biggest difference.
Less reminding, less mental load and a little more breathing room in the chaos.
And that's a win in my books. 💚
